Birell 10K Run Takes Place In Prague This Saturday

Saturday, 2 September, will see the Birell 10K Grand Prix arrive in Prague. The event will consist of two races: the Birell 10 kilometres run, which brings together runners of all performance levels, and the Adidas Women’s 5 kilometres run, which is the only large race in Prague intended exclusively for women.

For the 26th time, the illuminated streets of Prague will be filled with thousands of runners and spectators along the course. The Prague Grand Prix event is famous for its atmosphere and route, which is not only charming and picturesque but also fast. Every year, the world’s best athletes and thousands of enthusiastic amateurs assemble at the start of the 10 km race. For a change, the shorter 5 km run is for women only, and will bring together 3,000 participants in the country’s largest women’s running event.

“For this year, we have partially modified and accelerated the route, which contributes to the great performances of both amateur and professional runners,” say the organisers on their website. “As usual, both races will start in front of the Art Nouveau gem of Prague’s Municipal House. We will be very grateful if you come to support the competitors and enjoy one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world of athletics.”

However, the prestigious event will also bring minor traffic complications, especially for the trams. The changes will concern tram lines number 2, 6, 8, 15, 17, 26, 27, 41 and 42. In the case of buses, the routes of lines 194 and 207 will be modified. More information is available on the website of the Prague Transport Company.

More detailed information for runners can be found on the event website. Those wishing to watch the run as spectators can check the race map.
