Sports Facilities In Prague Will Again Be Free To Use In Last Week of the Year

This year, as in previous years, the popular Free Sports Week event organised by the City of Prague will make many sports facilities in the capital free for the public to use from Monday, 25 December to Sunday, 31 December.

A diverse range of sports activities at Prague sports clubs and venues will be included in the 15th year of the Free Sports Week event. The list of places participating in the event is available on the website prahasportovni.cz/tyden-sportu/. More sports venues will be added in the following days, and other sports venues can still sign up.

“Sports Week is a great event, when sports venues are accessible to everyone without distinction, and the people of Prague can try out places and activities that they would not normally. I hope that the citizens will take advantage of it, and that after the Christmas feasts I will meet many of them at some of the events,” said Antonín Klecanda, Prague city councillor for education, sports and leisure.

Telephone or online reservation is required for some facilities due to their limited capacity. At some venues, free access is not available during the entire Christmas period, but only on selected days and hours.

Last year, dozens of venues with a varied range of sporting disciplines were involved in the event, and were visited by thousands of people. At some points, these facilities were full to 100% of their capacity.

According to the event website, some of the many sports available include swimming, squash, rock-climbing, badminton, softball, bouldering, and mini-golf.
